Natural resources law to follow law on strategic industries

The new version of the law on subsurface resources will be passed after that on access of foreign investors to strategic industries becomes effective, Yury Trutnev, Russia's Natural Resources Minister, told journalists today. He explained that limiting the access was politically important. "It is not only the Natural Resources Ministry that should decide on how we will treat foreign investors in resources development, our main strategic industry," he noted. The Ministry developed the technical section of the law that was approved. He reiterated that the parameters for assigning the strategic label to deposits had already been determined. However, Trutnev did not rule out the possibility of the State Duma changing the parameters. (Source  www.rbc.ru)
